Have you heard this one before? Routine roots us in; meaning it grounds us, it creates habits, and we can predict the day ahead. Sometimes that routine only needs to be 10 minutes!


For the past year, I have been doing to same 10-minute routine, no matter how I’m feeling, to start my day. Did you see my badge of completion on Instagram?

My 365-day completion was of Qi Gong (pronounced "chee-gong") and I continue to do so every day. It is an ancient Chinese combination of exercises that includes simple movements and deep breathing that increases our energy. Qi  in traditional Chinese medicine means energy circulation, and Qi Gong helps to remove energy blockages, including muscle tension and chatter in the mind to improve physical and mental well-being.


It helps decrease soreness, activate muscle fibers, improve digestion, lymphatic flow, blood flow, and overall energy. It’s a great warm-up to a workout, or it could be the workout itself. It’s also a great way to offset a day of sitting or driving.
